Front Desk Clerk/Cashier/Host The Front Desk Clerk/Cashier/Host at the National Park Inn provides excellent service at the hotel front desk, performing all relevant functions including checking guests in and out, completing reservations, answering phones, coordinating services for guests. Due to the small size of the operation, you may assist regularly in other areas such as host, busser, server, and retail clerk. This position reports to the General Manager. Wage: $17.77 - $17.77 Benefits: Sick Pay (Sick Leave is provided in accordance with Washington State law, allowing employees to accrue one hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked, to be used for personal illness, family care, and other qualifying reasons.); Employee Discounts, Recreation Program, Employee Assistance Program; Housing & Meal Plan Available Essential Functions • Assist guests through friendly interactions, answering questions, and completing tasks. • Provide administrative, reception, and program support to management, staff, and guests including answering phones and providing directions. • Manage walk-in traffic. Sign in and out guests as needed. Smile and greet guests in a welcoming manner. • Register and assign rooms to guests, provide quotes for room rates and up-sell the guest when possible. • Assist in coordinating the front desk and housekeeping departments to assure rooms are clean and ready. • Verify that the correct charges and credits are posted to the corresponding guest folio; collect payment for charges • Ensure all cash and cash equivalents are accounted for and balanced at the beginning and end of each work shift. • Resolve guest concerns and complaints within scope of authority; refer to management as appropriate. • Act as host for adjacent dining room, seating guests and offering beverages. • Assist as busser, server, or porter in adjacent lobby and dining room as needed. • Performs such other related duties as directed or required. Skill and Knowledge Requirements Include • High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred. Minimum of at least 16 years of age. • Clerical skills including typing, filing, office machine operations, cash register operation, maintenance of records, and the ability to undertake multiple tasks simultaneously. Computer proficiency. • Food Server and TIPS/MAST card required. • Demonstrated talent for interacting with a wide variety of people. • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently. • Ability to arrange and coordinate schedules for reservations. • Ability to effectively organize and coordinate multiple priorities. • Ability to learn and develop new skills. • Ability to problem solve. • Excellent interpersonal, administrative, telephone and other communications skills. Physical and Mental Requirements • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment. • Lift, carry, and push up to 10 lbs. regularly, 15-20 lbs. frequently, and up to 30 lbs. occasionally. • Able to stand for extended periods and to climb steps occasionally. • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of guests and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly to be understood by same in English. • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
