Substitute Nutrition Services Team Member Promote a culture of health and wellness in the Ankeny Community School District by providing safe and nutritious foods that support the learning process. Support Nutrition Services in achieving expectations outlined in the position job schedule,Acts of PRIDE, Operational Guidelines, USDA Guidelines, and Iowa Food Code. Job Title: Substitute Nutrition Services Daily Rate of Pay: $17.25/hour Reports To: Kitchen manager or designated cook Wage/Hour Status: Temporary/Seasonal Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED, preferred • Ability to read basic operating instructions • Demonstrates a reasonable degree of computer proficiency • This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. • Successful candidates are subject to post-offer pre-employment physical. Preferred Qualifications • Food service experience of at least one-year • Hospitality industry cooking experience (Schools, Healthcare, Restaurant, Catering) Essential Functions • Provide EXCELLENT customer service to all people in accordance with department standards • Serve menu items quickly and accurately to meet department standards • Dependability, punctuality, and initiative are required • Completion of all mandatory trainings by required date • Appropriate hygiene and uniform required in accordance with operational guidelines • Food prep in accordance to standardized recipes while maintaining quality food standards including temperature, taste, and appearance • Cleaning of all areas including but not limited to: Sweeping/mopping floors, washing tables, dishes, pots/pans and work areas • Setting up and organizing all service areas according to department standards • Responsible for stocking, organizing, and completing inventory of assigned areas in compliance with FIFO (First-In First-Out) and department standards • Ability to setup and operate computer systems • Ability to maintain composure and problem solve in a fast paced environment • Responsible for knowing and executing food service best practices according to SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) • Responsible for filling out all appropriate paperwork in a timely manner including but not limited to: temperature logs and production usage records • Develop and maintain an effective level of communication with appropriate personnel Other Functions • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work without close supervision. • Demonstrates integrity and maintains confidentiality. • Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with all school personnel. • Is respectful and appropriately interacts with staff, students, and visitors. • Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the Ankeny Community School District safety program. • Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies. • Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to nutrition operations. • Perform all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others. • Performs other related duties, as assigned. • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. • Performs other related duties, as assigned. Working Environment Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking. This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment. This position requires that the individual is able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and humidity. Hazards may include exposure to communicable diseases. This position requires one to maintain emotional control under stress. What you'll do as a Driver Trainee: • Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and handle lines to secure. • Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. • Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report indicating condition. • Operates Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/product temperatures and exceptions. Inspects trailer to ensure product is secure for undamaged transport of product. • Rides and trains with Driver Trainer of tractor-trailer to various destinations, gaining knowledge of commercial driving regulations and observing the Driver's skill in starting engine properly, approaching intersections, making turns, backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicle on the road and on customer premises. • Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions. • Assists the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product into customer premises. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications you'll bring as a Driver Trainee Teammate: • High School Diploma or GED preferred. • Be at least 21 years of age. • Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy. • Complete training and receive Class A CDL in 6 months or less. • Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers. • Stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential job functions. • Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading. • Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product. • Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates. • Safely drive a tractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and on board PeopleNet devices. • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely.
