Description Mission Contribution: To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the retail store through security of corporate assets, customer relations, sale of donated goods, accurate cash register operations in order to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities. Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Store Manager or designee, is responsible for customer service, cash register sales, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting customers, bagging/wrapping merchandise, displaying merchandise, cleaning cash wrap area, counters, and front of store, hanging, stocking shelves and rotating merchandise. Essential Functions: • A cashier is responsible for greeting customers both via phone or in person in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner, while aiding customers with the goal of providing 100% customer delight and world class customer service. • Operates the cash register or POS system to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and information codes on merchandise. • Ensures proper cash handling of all transactions including proper processing of promotions and discounts. • Responsible to ensure the integrity of our "Round Up" program where all customers must be asked to round up the change from each transaction to fuel the mission of Goodwill within the communities that we serve. • Cleans front doors, counters, and glass frequently, dust cases, keep front of store clean, return shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, return unsold merchandise to proper area. • Assists with promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, etc. • Stocks and maintains counter, always showcases and cash/wraps in a neat and clean condition. • Works safely and adheres to proper handling of material movement equipment. Report any safety hazards and injuries to the manager on duty. • Assists in training new cashiers. • Cleans dressing rooms and re-hang clothes as needed. • Places apparel, wares, shoes, accessories, etc., onto sales floor in correct location and rotate merchandise from sales floor as needed. • Maintains Goodwill security, relating to theft or pilferage and handling of cash receipts, according to Goodwill policies and procedures. • Stay current with industry trends, brands, collectibles, and price points for hardline goods. • Follows safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Manager on Duty. • Performs other duties as assigned by Management. • Attends in-service related training as assigned. • Responsible for performing assigned duties within the framework of our Guiding Principles: • We are committed to providing world-class customer service to all of our customers. • We are committed to a clean, neat, organized, and safe facility. • We are committed to keeping all we offer fresh and relevant, including a store with full and fresh inventory. • Donors and shoppers should be greeted in 10 seconds. • Every time we touch a donation, something good should happen to it. • All donations should be processed within 24 hours. • If you have a pile, you have a problem. This applies to backrooms, desks, productions areas and warehouses. • Hard goods should be priority processed. • Material handling equipment is for moving donations, not for storage or merchandising. • Don't fall in love with your donations...rotation is critical to success. • Donor value and Transaction value should increase. • Profits or ROI should Increase. Minimum Qualifications: • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally. • Ability to perform basic math skills. • Must be able to work independently. • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, customers, and donors. • Ability to work within a team situation. • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude. • Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
