Headquartered in San Francisco, our investors include Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.Position: Building Code & Permitting Specialists (ONLY Cal &FL)Type: ContractCompensation: $65–$90/hourLocation: RemoteRole ResponsibilitiesReview and label construction documents, permit applications, site plans, and inspection reports. Identify and classify code requirements, jurisdictional rules, and compliance elements across different regions.Audit annotated datasets for accuracy and alignment with local, state, and national building codes. Evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness in permit requirements, zoning constraints, and code compliance.Define annotation guidelines for interpreting building codes and jurisdictional differences. Provide expertise on edge cases such as mixed-use zoning, variances, and complex permitting scenarios.Review AI-generated permit reviews, compliance summaries, and recommendations. Provide structured feedback to improve regulatory reasoning and accuracy across jurisdictions.Contribute to standards for construction permitting annotation and onboarding materials.QualificationsStrong familiarity with building codes, permitting workflows, and jurisdictional requirements.Experience coordinating with city agencies, submitting permits, and managing inspection processes.Strong knowledge of building codes, design compliance, and plan preparation.Experience reviewing and approving permits within municipal or state agencies.Deep expertise in one of the following jurisdictions: Chula Vista, Tampa, Palm Beach County, Pinellas County, Sunny Isles, Jacksonville, Surfside.Application ProcessUpload resumeAI interview based on your resumeSubmit formResources & SupportFor details about the interview process and platform information, please check: any help or support, reach out to: support@mercor.comPS: Our team reviews applications daily.
