As a full-time Surgery Unit Secretary, you will work Monday - Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm. No holidays or weekends required! This position qualifies for our discretionary quarterly bonuses and our full benefits package! The Unit Secretary is responsible for performing the clerical, receptionist, and coordination functions of the unit to support nursing, medical staff, and providers. Greets others and communicates with offices and outside healthcare agencies in an effort to provide optimum patient outcomes. A few other things about this position: • Serves as the central communication point for perioperative staff, anesthesia providers, surgeons, and vendors regarding surgical case status, room readiness, and operational updates. • Monitors surgical schedules and case progress; relay changes, delays, and special requests promptly and accurately. • Inputs department work orders and supply orders. • Assists with troubleshooting scheduling conflicts and workflow bottlenecks in collaboration with charge nurse and OR leadership. • Uses Cerner, Outlook, and Microsoft Office applications for communication, documentation, and reporting. • Must have strong critical thinking skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Must have the ability to multi-task, manage frequent interruptions, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. • Must have High School diploma or equivalent. For the current academic year, the Public Policy Program anticipates instructional needs in Public Policy. Within the College of Arts & Sciences, adjunct faculty may be responsible for: • Teaching assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses depending on unit need • Preparing syllabi and course materials • Delivering instruction and assessing student learning • Holding office hours • Fulfilling other instructional duties consistent with departmental needs This pool will remain open to address additional teaching needs that may arise throughout the year. Conditions of Employment: • This position is also not eligible for work visa sponsorship. • This is a part-time position restricted to the term to which it is assigned and hired, and is not eligible for benefits. • The position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional evenings, weekends, or overnight work as needed to meet operational requirements. • As part-time exempt employees, adjuncts are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program. Total hours worked may not exceed an average of 29 hours per week over a twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year. • Within Arts & Sciences, adjunct instructional workload limits apply. Total adjunct work hours for part-time employment from May 1 through April 30 may not exceed 1,500 hours, generally equating to up to 14 credit hours for fall/spring and up to 6 for summer, not to exceed 18 credit hours for the year. • Adjuncts within the College of Arts & Sciences at William & Mary must maintain an in-person presence for the duration of their appointment.
