Armed Detention Officer Akima Infrastructure Protection (AIP) is looking for an Armed Detention Officer. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! The Armed Detention Officer is responsible to ensure the safety and security of detainees in custody, acting in accordance with the highest ethical standards at all times, and ensuring a spirit of fairness and integrity in the on-going execution of their duties. Armed detention guards are required to have and maintain a state level security guard license for performance on this contract. Responsibilities • Armed Detention Officers are responsible for guarding and safeguarding non-citizen detainees and the general public at government buildings in either a custodial or court settings. • Qualify on a standard course of fire twice yearly and up to four times annually if required. • Completes all training, basic and annual refresher, maintain an appropriate level of fitness and continually meet all job requirements throughout the contract life span. • Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required by the contract. • Exercises surveillance and control over detainees and maintains order and discipline. • Makes official entries in the processing logbooks that are legible and complete. • Conducts a security and sanitation check of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer. • Inventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbook. • Receives all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition. • You are required to duty carry one of the authorized intermediate weapons. • Intermediate weapons should be used in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy. • Ensures that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery. • Inspects, maintains, and cares for authorized equipment. • Qualify with a company issued semi-automatic pistol with appropriate duty belt and magazines. • Successfully complete all assigned training including defensive tactics and course requiring a minimum physical stamina. • Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures. • Follows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting, and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies. Qualifications • US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years. • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record). • Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance. • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests. • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements. • At least 21 years of age. • Possess a valid state driver's license or CDL. • Possess a valid firearm license. • Ability to obtain an armed state security guard license from the state of Minnesota or Nebraska. • One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience demonstrating the following: • Ability to greet and deal tactfully and professionally with the public. • Capability of following and interpreting/understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations, printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and can compose written and oral reports. • Ability to exercise good judgment: courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities. • Ability to maintain poise and self-control during potential emergencies and unexpected situations that may involve mental and physical stress such as disturbances, altercations, fires, and building evacuations. • Maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States. • Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement and CDL requirements. The Route Driver maintains Stericycle policies, standards, and practices and ensures adherence to Stericycle's Vision, Mission and Values.**Key Job Activities:**+ Performs onsite/offsite document destruction of confidential information or pick up and transport medical waste+ Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations+ Plans daily schedule based on customers' needs by reviewing daily paperwork, e.g., manifest, route sheets, previous VCR, etc. provided by the Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher+ May prepare and load trucks to service select accounts for the delay ensuring enough supplies are added+ Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day. Ensures that customers have packaged and prepared the waste according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations before transporting+ Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis, communicating any issues to Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution. This includes, but is not limited to re-routes, adjustments in container sizes, training, etc.+ Performs pre-trip, post-trip checks, and driver check-in on assigned truck, prior to leaving or closing for the day.+ Reports any maintenance problems to Transportation/Dispatcher for follow-up+ Operates company equipment in a safe and efficient manner in an effort to minimize the risk of injury and equipment damage+ Complies with all local, state and federal laws governing driver fitness and hours of service. Ensures that assigned paperwork is completed legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely and returned to Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing.+ Ensures DOT Driver Log is completed, if applicable+ Maintains a high level of security when emptying consoles and/or collection totes by ensuring all documents are retrieved and the consoles/containers are securely locked. Services accounts using a hand-held device, ensuring console/containers are barcoded, locations are up to date, and the accuracy of type and quantity of consoles/containers+ Communicates with Stericycle Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any change to route pickups, including address changes, customer not having waste ready for pickup, etc. Ensures that employee covering for specific route is aware of any situations outside the norm in order to provide the highest level of customer service. Reports any problems/issues with accounts to Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher before the close of business each day+ Manages assigned routes ensuring customers' material collected and serviced in a timely and accurate manner+ Handles and responds to all customer problems and inquiries expediently and in the best interest of both the customer and our business+ Performs pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned truck prior to leaving or closing for the day.
