The Sales Associate is responsible for serving customers in a professional, quick and courteous manner, while complying with all food handling guidelines. Bosselman Pump & Pantry offers on-demand pay (access to earned but not yet paid wages) through: Cashier, Clerk Responsibilities • Arrive at work in a clean and proper uniform, and be clean and neat in appearance. • Greet customers in a friendly manner. Understand all functions of the POS system. • Make change properly. • Be proficient in opening and closing a shift, including completing all paperwork. • Use credit card equipment. • Process all sales quickly and accurately. • Insure all items are properly stocked and priced correctly. • Read and follow directions. • Check in vendor delivery. • Assist in ordering. • Understand fuel inventory reports. • Clean and sanitize equipment and perform simple maintenance. • Keep store neat and clean, inside and outside. • Recognize problems and report them to management. • Project a positive attitude. • Responsible for all aspects of food operations and handling/storage of product. Complies with all food handling guidelines to meet or exceed state/federal regulations. • Ensure a clean and healthy food service environment for our customers and associates by following proper cooking procedures and temperature holding temps. • Ensure that all food products are stored properly, rotated and code dated with expiration dates. Also ensure that all food products whether cooked or stored are held at proper temperatures. • Responsible for temperature testing food to ensure proper food safety and quality control. • Providing friendly and competent customer service. • Reporting for work in a timely manner when scheduled with regular and consistent attendance. Additional Job Duties: • Assisting in other duties, as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: • This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Education and/or Experience (include certs or licenses needed): • Retail or guest service experience preferred. Minimum Qualifications: • Able to work the POS system efficiently. • Ability to read, write and perform math skills. • Must possess a positive, enthusiastic attitude. • Must be flexible with the ability to adapt to change when required. • Demonstrates excellent communication skills. • Must be well groomed and properly attired. • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and any shift needed. • Must have reliable transportation and phone. • Must be able to communicate in English. – IF APPLICABLE • Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service. • Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members. This position assists in managing the store to achieve KPI's (key performance indicators) goals, which are measured and recorded monthly, quarterly and annually with a goal of meeting or exceeding revenue targets to help fund GCI's (Goodwill of Central Iowa) mission of making purposeful employment possible for all. Assistant Store Managers provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers. This position will lead processes such as donation tracking, production and pricing of donated goods, cash balancing, team member performance coaching, safety, and training using various technology and systems. What you'll do here: • Assists in managing the team and store processes effectively to meet sales and production goals monthly, quarterly and annually. • Trains and coaches' employees using various platforms including in-person, online, and written processes. • Effectively uses technology such as Microsoft Office suite, Point of Sales system, Human Resources Information System, cash register operations system, camera system, to communicate, monitor, and track store metrics. • Analyzes expenses, production, and sales to achieve revenue goals to support and fund Goodwill of Central Iowa's mission. Participates in monthly financial calls. Completes regular KPI reports, oversees employee timekeeping, and completes bi-weekly payroll actions. • Regularly provides work performance feedback to employees using GCI's values of love, kindness, and respect. • Provides communication within the store through team meetings, one-on-one conversations, electronically, and by posting or distributing relevant written materials. • Supports the Mission department and activities through our round-up program, promoting Mission activities and programs, supporting Mission goals and employees. • Provides excellent customer service and responds effectively and promptly to customer needs. • Assists in managing store DGR (donated goods retail) processes of sorting, pricing, and rotating merchandise to achieve production and sales goals. • Partners with Store Manager and Safety & Loss Control Specialist to monitor and manage safety processes, regular safety activities, and safety training. • Regularly completes and submits reports, performs employee actions within the HRIS (human resources information system), monitors and updates timekeeping and payroll data for team members, monitors employee training progress in the LMS (learning management system) and assists employees in accessing their records and training within our systems. • Monitors and assists in maintaining internal and external appearance standards including floor care, store cleanliness, cash register organization, fixture organization, parking lot area, shopping cart store entry, and signage. • Performs other duties as assigned. What you'll need: • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. • Ability to run cash register, computer, wheeled carts and clothing racks, pallet jacks; potential for forklift operation dependent on work location. • Ability to work independently and be flexible; adaptable to change. • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and assign/monitor work. • Ability to perform basic math. • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook. • Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines. • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and dependent adult and child abuse background check. • High school diploma or its equivalent or currently attending high school or GED classes. A minimum of four (4) years of any combination of military service, high school or related full-time paid employment. • A minimum of twelve (12) months of related full-time paid employment, including at least six (6) months of supervisory experience, or a minimum of one year of full-time employment at a Goodwill of Central Iowa retail store. • Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work and possess valid Iowa Driver's License, a good driving record, insurable, and able to provide proof of personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident auto insurance liability coverage. • Able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification. • Ability to carry, lift, push or pull up to 40 pounds regularly • Ability to tolerate variations in work environment temperature • Ability to be stationary or mobile for long periods of time Goodwill of Central Iowa is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE/M/F/Vet/Disability) and E-Verify Participant.
