Dispatcher A Dispatcher is required to communicate with drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route. Furthermore, handling incoming service orders, directs drivers, and resolves service issues. Interacts with customers, including customer service, sales, and operational staff. The dispatcher will use GFL proprietary software to enter ticket information and track productivity. As a Dispatcher, you are the operational heart of our daily service. You will work closely with our drivers, operations management, customer service, and sales teams to optimize daily routes, solve real-time challenges, and ensure top-tier service delivery. Key Responsibilities • Driver Coordination & Support: Dispatch daily routes based on designated areas and driver locations. Perform end-of-day check-ins, distribute and review route sheets, and record driver data for accurate reporting. • Problem Solving & Route Optimization: Troubleshoot and resolve potential pickup/delivery challenges before they impact service quality. Work with routing specialists to optimize operational efficiency. • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Serve as a central point of contact between drivers, customer service, sales, and maintenance personnel to maintain seamless operations. • Customer & Operations Support: Handle incoming service requests, assist in determining daily driver staffing levels, and field calls and emails professionally. • System Management: Enter ticket information and track operational productivity using GFL proprietary software and industry tools. Qualifications & Skills • Experience: 1-2 years of dispatching, transportation, or customer service experience (call center or logistics background preferred). • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary courses or logistics training is an asset. • Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word, with strong typing accuracy. Experience with TRUX software is a major plus (or the desire and computer aptitude to learn it quickly). • Communication & Focus: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven customer-first mindset and the ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and two-way radio. • Multi-Tasking: Exceptional ability to prioritize tasks and remain organized in a fast-paced environment. • Flexibility: Willingness to work extended hours or occasional weekends as needed to support operations.
