Position Type: Support Staff - Transportation/Crossing Guard Date Posted: 4/27/2026 Location: Bus Driver/Crossing Guard Date Available: 08/13/2026 JOB TITLE: Crossing Guard DEPARTMENT: Transportation REPORTS TO: Transportation Director FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt CONTRACT STATUS: Hourly SUMMARY: The primary duty of the Cross Guard is to facilitate the safe crossing of students at streets and intersections near schools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: these statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required. • Direct or escort Students across streets, stopping traffic as necessary. • Communicate traffic and crossing rules and other information to students and adults. • Direct traffic movement or warn of hazards, using signs, flags, and hand signals. • Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals, and report infractions to appropriate authorities.? • Other duties as assigned. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to listen effectively. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language. Ability to give instructions in a professional manner. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: None REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
