Environmental Consultant Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) is seeking an Environmental Consultant in Texas. In this full-time position, the Environmental Consultant will support environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental review for energy infrastructure projects, with aprimary focus on Texas and opportunities to support projects in other regions where Merjent's clients operate. This role will support a variety of projects, including natural gas, electric transmission, and other energy-related developments, by coordinating permit acquisitions, conducting environmental analyses, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Preference will be given to candidates located in Texas, particularly within a one-hour drive of Houston, to support client coordination, agency engagement, field activities, and project needs throughout the state. This is a full-time benefits eligible opportunity that can be based remotely in Texas. Qualifications and Experience • B.A. or B.S. in environmental science or environmental studies, environmental engineering, water resources, geology, biology, natural resources, or a closely related field. • 3-5 years of environmental permitting experience, with preference for work completed in the energy industry. • 3-5 years of experience or familiarity with permitting processes through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, State Historic Preservation Offices, or other federal, state, or local regulatory agencies. • 1-2 years of experience or familiarity with project management and/or deputy project management preferred. • Strong initiative-taker with excellent organizational, problem-solving, and task management skills. • Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure, both in large teams and one-on-one. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources and translate that information into direct, easy to understand written deliverables. • Willing to travel domestically as needed (5-50%), including for field work.
