Details • PCU/Step-down unit in a short term acute care hospital with 325 staffed beds • Floats to fill institutional needs, with patient population ranging from ER boarded patients to telemetry and med-surg patients • Nurse to patient ratio varies from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit acuity • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM • May include charge nurse responsibilities on smaller units typically staffed with 1-2 RNs supported by LPNs and CNAs • Uses Epic EMR • Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility Requirements • Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission • Current certifications: ACLS and NIHSS preferred • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required • Previous charge nurse experience required • Experience working in the US required; Canadian experience alone does not qualify • Epic EMR experience required • Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias required • Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and oxygen administration preferred • Experience with IV therapy, central line, and PICC line management preferred • Full SSN and date of birth required for consideration • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required Additional Information • Provide nursing care to a varied patient population across PCU, telemetry, and med-surg units as part of a float team • On small units, the RN may serve as sole Charge Nurse managing staffing needs, bed flow, and coordination • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day) • RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process • Former Providence permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not currently reside within 50 miles of the facility • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50 mile radius • Background checks with Nursys or other hits are not accepted by the facility • First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for consideration American Traveler Job ID #P-780516.
