Thanks to their foresight and generosity, the school has over 12,000 graduates and continues to expand to serve more students. MHS is hiring married couples to serve as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this unique and life-changing career, couples reside in on-campus student homes and provide care, guidance, supervision, and support for a group of approximately 8–13 students living in the home. Flex Houseparents play a vital role in creating a structured, family-like environment that fosters students' academic, emotional, and social development so they can reach their full potential. Responsibilities include: • Providing daily supervision and mentorship • Managing household routines and student schedules • Administering medications and ensuring student wellness • Driving students to activities, as well as planning and actively engaging in developmental and recreational activities with students • Leading daily devotions and accompanying students to Sunday Chapel • Overseeing budgeting and household reporting Upon hire, Flex Houseparents initially support various student homes and follow a working schedule of nine consecutive days on duty, followed by three days off. On weekdays, houseparents have unscheduled time while students are in school. Flex Houseparents eventually transition into a Placed Houseparent role, where they live and work with the same group of students in their own student home. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Prepare food items, ensuring consistency and compliance with the restaurant's recipes, portioning, cooking, and waste control guidelines • Provide courteous and informative customer service in an "open kitchen" format, while ensuring that assigned station is stocked and clean • Follow restaurant guidelines concerning guest services, food and physical safety, maintenance, and equipment/space cleaning requirements at all times • Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment POSITION DETAILS: This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate. • LENGTH OF POSITION: 3 months (permanent hire conversion is possible based on performance and business need) • LOCATION: Cape Canaveral, FL BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or equivalency certificate • Culinary degree and 2+ years of experience in the food service industry or 5+ years of experience in the food service industry PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • 8+ years of experience in the food service industry • Basic knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment • Possession of or willingness to obtain CA food handler card • High level of professionalism • Experience in a corporate environment • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook primarily) • Understanding of standard kitchen hierarchy and roles • Understanding of basic cooking methods including sauce making and meat and vegetable preparations • Sound understanding of food safety and sanitation practices • Willingness to learn and take guidance from others ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral • Ability to work the following shift: • Monday - Friday: 10:00am-10:00pm • Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects are generally required to perform the functions of this position • Ability to work overtime • Weekend availability • Ability to work holidays • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted • Ability to work in continuously-standing position for 5+ hours • Ability to work with hands continuously: chop, stir, scrape, scrub • Ability to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends as needed ITAR REQUIREMENTS: • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
