Orientation and Mobility Specialist

*School-Based Orientation & Mobility Specialist | Tumwater, WA | Part-Time* Hello, O&M Specialists! Ampersand Therapy is hiring a part-time *Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist* to support students with visual impairments in *Tumwater Washington*. We are a woman- and therapist-founded company that values collaboration and meaningful, student-centered work. *Position Details* * Location: Tumwater, WA * Schedule: 2 days per week * In-person, school-based role * Provide evaluations, direct instruction, and consultation for students with visual impairments *Responsibilities* * Conduct O&M evaluations and identify students' short- and long-term needs. * Teach students to travel safely and confidently in familiar and unfamiliar environments while building independence. * Collaborate with teachers of students with visual impairments on functional vision assessments related to travel. * Provide instruction and support aligned with each student's IEP. * Consult with families, teachers, school staff, and peers on strategies that support student independence and safety. * Monitor progress and maintain evaluation reports, IEP documentation, progress notes, and other required records. * Provide training to school staff and families on students' O&M needs. * Collaborate with the multidisciplinary school team. *Requirements* * Bachelor's degree in Education; master's degree in Special Education preferred * Valid Washington State Education Staff Associate certificate with the required Special Education endorsement and qualifications to serve as an O&M instructor * Valid Washington State driver's license * First Aid and CPR certification * Ability to complete required criminal background clearance * Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills *Benefits & Perks* * W-2 employment with liability insurance included * 401(k) with company match * Reimbursement opportunities for licensure, continuing education, and professional expenses * Support from a therapist-founded team that understands school-based work We'd love to connect with you and share more about this opportunity!
