JOB SUMMARY: The Warehouse Shift Supervisor works with a team of Shift Supervisors and Managers supervising various assigned functions within the Excell warehouse. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and directing their assigned team as requested by the department manager and is responsible for ensuring new team members are trained thoroughly and have a complete understanding of their job duties. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for keeping managers abreast of changes, potential problems and status updates and changes. This position will be on our 2nd shift - Monday - Thursday 1:30 pm - 12:00 am plus overtime when required. This will be at our Northeast Des Moines, IA facility. JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Proven ability to effectively lead and direct others • Previous supervisory experience • Proficient in Warehouse Management System • Has a full understanding of all areas of the warehouse and how they work together and the purpose of each function • Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs. repetitively • Ability to work within established time and quality control goals for this area • Ability to learn and master new tasks quickly ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions: Leadership: • Communicates with team members and shares expectations, duties, daily assignment and goals • Keeps team on task by assisting in set up of new distribution orders as required • Provides daily report and updates to Department Manager with concerns, potential issues etc. • Responsible for issuing out damaged product from inventory and ensures that it is distributed and received by the Returns department • Assists team with issues that might arise and escalates to Manager as necessary • Supervises all team members assigned to their work area in the warehouse • Resolves conflicts between team members as necessary • Ensures that daily responsibilities of team members are completed and that daily distribution goals are met • Collaborates with Manager to keep Warehouse Operations Manager abreast on all staffing needs and assists in re-assigning labor resources to ensure that all distribution areas have sufficient coverage • Supports initiatives of Warehouse Operations Manager and models appropriate leadership behavior Distribution: • Ensures metrics for all core customer processes are being met by utilizing the approved customer template and reporting system • Prepares sales orders for fulfillment ensuring that required inventory is available • Works directly with Warehouse Distribution Manager to coordinate shipping needs • Keeps Warehouse Operations Manager informed of warehouse supply needs and associated costs and ensures adequate supplies are available • Able to perform all functions related to fulfillment of distribution center orders • Responsible for keeping work are clean and safe by assisting with clean up of line and surrounding areas • Works with Managers of other departments in the warehouse to complete assigned projects on time OTHER DUTIES:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the team member for this job. Frequent repetitive motion activities are required. Must be able to read print and computer based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature. INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to manage a number of projects at one time, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. The incumbent will be preparing digital ocular scans by converting format in software and running a segmentation software algorithm. Manual correction of segmentation lines in the images. This position does not involve coding or programming responsibilities. • This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding. • It is anticipated that this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location. It is required that employees come into Madison, WI, quarterly on preset dates for onsite meetings and collaboration. • The work schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire. Key Job Responsibilities: • Enters information into systems or national database • Maintains awareness of and ensures adherence to university standards regarding privacy • Prepares and sorts documents for data entry • Review and examine the segmentation lines for accuracy and make appropriate corrections for completeness.
