Design, Construct, Evaluate and Troubleshoot • Maintain skillset in identifying, locating, and correcting defects in building installations, fixtures, and equipment. • Read, comprehend, and instructs from plans, blueprints, and technical drawings. • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic problems in various equipment. (ex: HVAC units, lights, automatic doors) • Oversee and perform carpentry work in constructing and repairing all aspects of exhibits; including but not limited to fences, doors, buildings and other structures; interprets and follows design of customer requirements; use provided plans or design and draw plans; determine materials list and orders materials. • Oversee welding and fabrication of various materials; including but not limited to: animal containment, structures, vehicle repairs, and new construction. • Oversee preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair Zoo vehicles, equipment and tools. • Plan and excavate and prepares for concrete, rock, or asphalt on job sites. Executes installation of concrete, rock, or asphalt in various uses. Event Setup and Interdepartmental Support Management • Oversee and execute setup of special events; including but not limited to providing for electrical needs, setup of lights, tents, props, and other structures. • Oversee design and construction of various props/sets for special events. • Assist veterinary department when requested. • Participate in an on-call rotation during emergency situations. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Three years of professional experience in maintenance or construction or any of the following categories: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC. Demonstrated experience in the use of a wide variety of electrical and hand tools.
