Job Title: Yard Driver (AM)Job Area: Terminal/Warehouse/TransportDivision: Road Transport USLocation: Richardson, TXTime Type: Full TimeBenefitsAnnual gross wage of $57,000 – $66,000, dependent on shift and personal performance.Eligible for 5–15 hours of overtime per week based on business needs.Home every day.Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (eligible on the first of the month following 30 days of employment).Company paid short‑term & long‑term disability and life insurance.401(k) plan with up to 5% company match.Generous PTO package – including vacation, sick time, birthday holiday, 3 floating holidays, and 6 paid holidays a year.Bi‑weekly pay with Daily Pay options.$1,000 Referral Bonus Program.Cell phone allowance.Paid orientation including transportation, lodging, and meals.Duties & ResponsibilitiesMove trailers, containers, and equipment to and from loading docks, staging areas, and parking locations within the yard.Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of yard tractors, trailers, and equipment and report defects or damage.Ensure trailers are properly secured, chocked, sealed, and docked according to safety procedures.Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and operations personnel to prioritize trailer moves and dock assignments.Maintain accurate yard location tracking using yard management systems (YMS), tablets, handheld devices, or written logs.Verify trailer numbers, seals, and load documentation prior to movement.Assist in yard organization, including staging empty and loaded trailers in designated areas.Monitor yard conditions and immediately report safety hazards, equipment issues, or security concerns.Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned yard tractor and equipment.Comply with company policies, OSHA safety standards, and site‑specific safety procedures.Support shipping and receiving operations during peak periods as directed.Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.Work Experience & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).Previous yard driver, hostler, shuttler, warehouse, or transportation experience (strongly preferred).Experience operating a yard tractor, terminal tractor, or similar equipment (preferred).Ability to obtain and maintain company yard certification and safety training.Class A driver's license required.Basic understanding of trailer types, coupling/uncoupling procedures, and dock operations (preferred).Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.Skills & CompetenciesStrong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.Attention to detail and accuracy.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Time management and prioritization.Situational awareness in high‑traffic environments.Basic technology skills (handheld scanners, tablets, or yard management systems).Physical DemandsThis position requires frequent sitting while operating a yard tractor and frequent entering and exiting the vehicle throughout the shift. The employee must be able to climb in and out of equipment, couple and uncouple trailers, and perform inspections that involve bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and walking on uneven surfaces. The role requires the ability to lift and move items up to approximately 50 pounds occasionally and to work in tight spaces around docks and trailers.Work EnvironmentThe Yard Driver primarily works outdoors in a busy transportation yard or terminal environment and is regularly exposed to moving vehicles, heavy equipment, varying weather conditions, noise, dust, and diesel fumes. The position requires working around loading docks, trailers, and warehouse operations and may involve day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts based on business needs.CompensationFor this position, the expected base pay range is $24 hourly.
