Job Summary: Location: Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital Address: 933 E Pierce St. - Council Bluffs, IA Work Schedule: 3:30pm to 8pm as needed with weekend availability required This is a casual position. Casual employees work on an 'as needed' basis to meet the needs of the business. Workdays/hours will often vary from week to week. Responsible for preparing and delivering patient and guest trays to patient rooms, as well as assisting in the dish room as needed. Responsibilities: Essential Functions 1. Prepares assembly area for room service tray production by conducting pre-service quality checks and maintaining the cleanliness of the assembly area to ensure the area is ready for the preparation of patient and guest trays. 2. Maintains adequate level of food and supplies for appropriate service by ensuring par levels in food service area and nourishment centers are met and maintained. 3. Assembles and delivers patient food trays to the patient's room by following Room Service guidelines to ensure all orders are accurate and delivered in a pre-established time guideline. 4. Assists with the production and preparation of food items to ensure Room Service orders are prepared and delivered in a timely manner. 5. Interacts and helps support patients, families, hospital staff, and Food Service team with Room Service orders and/or questions on a daily basis in a welcoming and professional manner to ensure excellent customer service is met and maintained. 6. Assists patients with pre-meal service, including removing lids and opening packets, by following Room Service guidelines to ensure patients are satisfied and needs are met. 7. Retrieves Room Service tray carts from designated areas and assists with the cleaning of Room Service trays to ensure continuity of service. 8. Follows proper food handling procedures and complies with quality performance standards to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Experience • 6 months food service experience preferred, preferably in a hospitality industry, which may include culinary, with strong emphasis in customer service. License/Certifications • Food Handler's Certificate preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities • Knowledge of food production and delivery process preferred. • Knowledge of computers preferred. • Basic math skills required. • Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required. • Strong customer service skills required, including face-to-face and telephone, required. • Able to read, write, and carry out oral and written instructions with accuracy and efficiency required. Dish Room And Cafeteria Sanitation Responsible for sanitation, cleanliness and operation of the dish room and cafeteria. Job Duties • Demonstrates IWCC's core mission, vision and values • Enforce the guidelines, policies, and procedures set by the Food ServiceDepartment • In charge of the sanitation of all dishes, glassware, catering equipment, pots/pans, small ware, and utensils to be cleaned • Responsible for the use of chemicals according to the MSDS and dish machine to ensure that proper procedures are being used and temperatures are being maintained for sanitation measures • Responsible for putting away of all dishes, glassware, catering equipment, pots/pans, small wares, and utensils in their proper location • Responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of all tables in the cafeteria • Responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of all carts on a daily basis • Responsible for garbage removal and cleaning of the garbage receptacles • Responsible for mopping and cleaning of all spills and debris on the floors of the Food Service department • Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of all mobile carts in the food service department at all times • Responsible for the proper washing and sanitation of catering items to ensure no damage is occurring with these special items • Responsible for timely completion of any further cleaning tasks as assigned by FSM or Head Chef • Maintain a strong professional relationship with the Culinary Arts department • Attend industry-related conferences, workshops and seminars as appointed by the Food Service Manager • Immediately report and malfunctioning or broken equipment/small wares to FSM or Head Chef • Regular, prompt & reliable attendance • Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • Enthusiastic and dedicated to the challenges of helping other people • Ability to function collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, customer oriented team • Professional in communications, appearance, relationships, and responsiveness • Positive attitude • Ability to pass a background check Physical Demands • The employee frequently is required to stand for extended periods of time and use hands to operate the equipment • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
