Retail Donor Specialist - Materials Handler Associate The Retail Donor Specialist - Materials Handler Associate supports Goodwill's donated goods operations by delivering an exceptional donor experience while safely receiving, handling, and moving donated merchandise through backroom operations, including the Donation Express Center (DEC). This role is responsible for donor engagement, material handling, trailer loading, and maintaining efficient workflow to support production and store replenishment. Under the direction of the store leadership, this role balances donor service, safety, productivity, and accuracy in a fast paced, high-volume environment. The Retail Donor Specialist - Materials Handler Associate operates in alignment with Goodwill's mission of Changing Lives through Education, Training, and Employment and upholds the values of Teamwork, Respect, Uprightness, and Empowerment. Donor Experience • Consistently deliver the GREAT donor experience by Greeting donors promptly, offering donation Receipts accurately, providing Excellent Service, Assisting donors as needed, and Thanking donors sincerely for their support. • Greet donors professionally and courteously, creating a welcoming and positive first impression at the donation site. • Receive donated goods in accordance with established donation acceptance, safety, and operational guidelines. • Provide basic donor information as needed, including donation procedures and Goodwill's mission impact. • Assist donors with unloading, directions, or questions to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive donation experience. • Manage donor flow to maintain safety, efficiency, and a customer-friendly environment during peak donation periods. Material Handler & Backroom Operations • Support efficient donated goods operations through safe, accurate handling and movement of donated merchandise within backroom operations and donation areas. • Maintain consistent material flow to support processing, production, and store replenishment needs in a high-volume environment. • Load, unload, and stage donated goods, including trailers and trucks, in accordance with safety and operational standards. • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, as trained and authorized. • Ensure backroom, staging, equipment, and trailer areas are organized, clean, and operationally ready to support daily workflow. • Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a safe, orderly, and efficient work environment, including keeping work areas free of hazards. • Follow all safety guidelines, housekeeping standards, lifting practices, and operational procedures to support a safe and productive workplace. Safety & Operational Standards • Perform all duties in accordance with Goodwill's safety policies, procedures, and operational standards. • Use proper lifting techniques and safe work practices to prevent injury and protect donors, team members, and donated goods. • Maintain awareness of surroundings and report safety hazards, equipment concerns, or operational issues promptly to leadership. • Support a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within backroom operations. Schedule & Flexibility • Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. • Perform other duties as assigned to support donor experience, backroom operations, and overall store performance. Minimum Qualifications Required Skills Education • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience • Previous experience in retail, donation intake, production, warehouse, or customer-facing roles preferred, but not required. Knowledge and Skills • Ability to balance positive donor interactions with operational and backroom responsibilities throughout the workday. • Ability to follow established operational standards, workflows, and safety procedures consistently. • Ability to work safely and accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move donated goods as required. • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Experience in fast-paced, high-volume, quota/production or warehouse environments with strong service, productivity, accuracy, and quality expectations preferred. • Experience supporting donors/customers in a community-facing role while performing donation processing, material handling, or backroom operations preferred. • Prior nonprofit or mission-based retail experience is a plus. • Bilingual language skills preferred.

Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Determines the origin and cause of fires and explosions involving structures, equipment, vehicles, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, and other losses. • Assists in securing the fire/explosion scene to prevent removal or damage of potential evidence. • Conducts on-site, hands-on forensic fire analysis. This includes scene photography, interviewing witnesses and gathering information, taking possession of items, cause and origin determination, report preparation, and providing testimony in deposition and trial. • Searches for, identifies, collects, and labels any potential evidence/items from the fire scene, including devices used to set, start, or further the progress of fire; protects the chain of custody of potential evidence/items. • Provides technical and scientific support to clients for subrogation and litigation purposes. • Conducts code compliance research including electrical, gas, fire, building and installation code violations. • Facilitates and helps present continuing education seminars on fire-related topics. • Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES: • Must have a high level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external). • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Office • Applications and computer-assisted engineering and design software. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical reports, journals, financial reports, and legal documents. • Ability to write scopes of work clearly and coherently, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents. • Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external clients. Capable of effectively presenting information to top management, clients, public groups, and/or boards of directors. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS: • IAAI-CFI certification preferred. • A minimum of NAFI-CFEI with the ability to obtain an IAAI-CFI within 18 months. • 5+ years of related work experience in fire investigation or a related field. • AAS in Fire Science, Fire Investigation, Forensic Science or related experience as a fire investigator, firefighter, or law enforcement officer/investigator. PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, and TRAVEL: • Physical Demands - Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. Client's office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to climb ladders, walk on roofs, and work in space-limited areas. Employee must wear a tight-fitting respirator during investigations. Employee may be required to shovel fire debris, move furniture and other household/ commercial items and operate lifts as needed. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary. • Overtime - Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with to meet the demands of the position. • Travel Requirements - This position requires up to 50% local travel. Job Title GS-13 Huntington Position Job Description The GS-13 Huntington position will perform SME level work with assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the full performance grade level of GS14 duties listed below: • Lead diverse cost-estimating teams to produce cost estimates and schedules, and review and comment on resource-loaded project schedules and construction sequencing for highly complex dam safety modification projects throughout the nation. • Lead HQUSACE initiatives supporting collection and application of lessons learned on design and construction projects, and analysis of remaining capital investment and priorities for the dam safety program on a national level. • Estimate programmatic funding requirements for dam safety modifications for a portfolio of high-risk dams; estimates are used to determine project priorities on a national level for the dam safety program. • Lead a team of dam safety professionals, assigning and reviewing work, establishing priorities, ensuring resources are available, and providing input to performance evaluations. • Represent USACE on DoD and other interagency groups and conferences attended by top level representatives of industry and government. • Establish and refine cost-estimating policies and resolve problems affecting current and planned dam safety modification activities. • Develop curriculum for Center-led courses for Federal civilian and military agencies and civil infrastructure industry partners. • Perform as technical mentor for cost engineering specialists working for entities across the country, including dam safety production centers and districts. • Perform agency technical review of major rehabilitation and dam safety modification reports for USACE districts in terms of the adequacy and accuracy of schedules and cost estimates. • Lead HQUSACE initiatives supporting collection and application of lessons learned on design and construction projects, and analysis of remaining capital investment and priorities for the national dam safety program.
