Job Summary: Collects and prepares specimens for testing, conducts routine laboratory tests, and assists technologists as directed. Minimum Education: College science prerequisite courses for medical technology degree required and enrollment in the SFHS accredited School of Medical Technology. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None. Work Experience: 0 - 6 months related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Adequate keyboarding skills to use the computer efficiently. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Collects, receives, organizes, and prepares specimens for laboratory testing. Performs routine laboratory testing with supervision. Performs and records all quality control procedures required for testing being performed. Reports accurate test results. Conducts oneself in a professional manner with regard to communication and cooperation. Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Special Job Dimensions: None. Garnett Rd, Tulsa Salary: $14.42 / hour Status: Part-Time, 20 hours / week Schedule: Mondays 5-9pm Tuesdays Noon -9pm Thursdays 9am-1pm Fridays 10am-2pm *With some rotating Saturdays and Sundays Essential Functions and Qualifications Include: • Provides general information in person and by phone assisting customers in locating and discovering materials, connecting with available library services, or providing information about the library, referring reference questions to the appropriate resource; • Assists customers with self check-out machines by instructing how to charge, renew, and discharge library materials to/from customers; • Registers customers by issuing and updating library cards; • Sorts and routes returned materials to proper location and ensures that the library is neat and organized so customers can easily find what they need; • Receives and records fines and lost materials information; • Checks library materials for damage and performs minor repairs; • Maintains orderly service areas;. • Maintains periodical collections, sorts gift items, and prepares new books for circulation as directed; • May help customers with basic technology and Internet problems; • May assist Librarians with programming, as assigned; • Actively supports TCCL's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library's Be All In culture; • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; • Ability to read and perform alphabetic and numeric sorting and filing; • Knowledge of general library procedures, policies, and operations; • Knowledge of circulation policies, processes and procedures; • Ability to provide directions; • Ability to help customers with their basic computer needs, including e-mail, answering Microsoft product questions, and navigating the Internet; • Ability to learn and demonstrate library's automated systems and self-service tools; • Ability to operate audio-visual equipment, smart phones, mobile devices, computer hardware and software, and quickly learn new databases and consumer devices including (and not limited to) e-readers, tablets and personal computers; • May work irregular hours including evenings, weekends and occasional Sundays What It's Like to Work at Tulsa City-County Library: Library work is about people first. Physical Activity & Environmental Conditions For most positions work regularly requires stooping, bending and light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds). Some positions require moderate physical exertion, such as regularly lifting moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) such as crates full of books or pushing heavy (up to 100 pounds) wheeled carts full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
