About the Role: The Thrift Store-Store Clerk plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a thrift store by providing excellent customer service and maintaining an organized retail environment. This position is responsible for assisting customers with their purchases, managing inventory, and processing transactions accurately. The clerk will also contribute to the overall appearance and cleanliness of the store, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. By handling donations, sorting merchandise, and pricing items appropriately, the clerk supports the store's mission to offer affordable goods while promoting sustainability. Ultimately, this role is essential in driving sales, enhancing customer satisfaction, and supporting the community through the thrift store's operations. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members. • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and sorting merchandise. • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Responsibilities: • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, answering questions and providing product information. • Operate the cash register, process sales transactions, handle cash and credit payments accurately, and issue receipts. • Sort, price, and display donated items according to store guidelines and standards. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, stockroom, and donation areas to ensure a safe and inviting environment. • Receive and process incoming donations, inspecting items for quality and suitability for sale. • Restock shelves and arrange merchandise to maximize visual appeal and accessibility. • Collaborate with team members to meet daily sales goals and support store events or promotions. • Report any inventory discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to management promptly. Skills: The required skills such as customer service and cash handling are used daily to ensure smooth and accurate sales transactions while creating a positive shopping experience.
