Security Officer Part Time Days Schedule: Sunday, Monday Tuesday 6:30am-7:00pm Job Summary: The Security Officer maintains a safe and secure environment by patrolling premises, monitoring surveillance equipment, and enforcing security policies. This role helps prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access while ensuring the safety of Saint Francis Health System (SFHS) patients, visitors, staff, equipment, supplies, facilities, and hospital contents. Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: CLEET Armed Security Guard License. Certified Peace Officers must obtain CLEET Armed Security Guard Certification within ninety days (90) of hire. Work Experience: Minimum 1 year of related security experience, preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to utilize effective verbal, written, and listening skills to effectively communicate with the public. Ability to utilize positive interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Ability to maintain professional and courteous during highly stressful and fast-paced situations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Actively patrols premises to monitor activity, controls access to restricted areas, responds to emergencies, prevents unauthorized entry, and detects suspicious behavior. Ensures compliance with site rules, policies, and safety procedures. Protects patients, staff, and visitors, enforces hospital policies, and coordinates with law enforcement when necessary. Maintains vigilance and responds to potential threats while deterring theft or vandalism through a visible presence. Documents and reports security incidents, suspicious activities, and breaches. Assists with evacuations and emergency response procedures. Ensures adherence to legal and regulatory security requirements. Enforces hospital entry and exit policies to prevent unauthorized access. Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Special Job Dimensions: None. Requirements U.S. citizenship is required Possess a current valid driver's license Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory. Be at least age 21 at the time of application and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process. You must obtain a Top Secret Clearance and retain it during your career. Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular, possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500,1000 and 2000Hz ranges. Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position. Complete 13 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center(FLETC) in Glynco, GA and 18 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD. Sign a mobility agreement stating your willingness to accept assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas. Certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so, if you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959.
