Job Description UW Medicine-Montlake- Food and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a Barista. WORK SCHEDULE • Intermittent (per diem) • Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UW Medicine's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Performs routine work in preparing and serving espresso beverages and food items and cleaning activities • Performs a variety of duties in the preparation and service of espresso beverages and food items PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Prepare and serve coffee and espresso; • Weigh, prepare, and serve meals; • Clean work area and equipment; • Take cash payment for meals and drinks; • Operate cooking, espresso and kitchen equipment; • Assist in maintaining daily stock of work area and weekly inventory; • Perform related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage. • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. May serve on committees to improve procedures and resolve problems within teams and across the department. • Other duties as assigned. What you bring • H.S Diploma or GED • College degree preferred • 1-2 years' customer service experience and previous contact center experience required • Retirement Plans Experience preferred • Special skills or knowledge: o Required: Proficient written and oral communication skills. Must be able to manage a number of priorities at one time while working within required deadlines. Proficient customer focus with excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to assume ownership and ability to work within a team environment. Must have a high level of curiosity and show willingness to learn new methods, procedures. o Preferred: Knowledge of ERISA, IRS/DOL regulations, and qualified plan administration. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). ASPPA exams or equivalents.
